When I was growing up, back when there were only four channels on TV, all activity would cease on Friday evening while my Dad watched PBS Wall Street Week. This was possibly the driest show on television, with grey-faced old men spouting incomprehensible jargon, accented with terrible puns. It was a strange choice for a favorite program, given my Dad was a steelworker with five children and no money to speak of. My older siblings mostly found other things to do on Friday nights. I quickly learned that if I watched along with him, I would get my Dad all to myself.

Fast forward to my time in college and afterward at a New York consulting firm. It seemed I was surrounded by people with money who understood what to do with it. As a scholarship kid with few resources, it was all a mystery to me. In the back of my mind, I resolved to figure it out. I did during the course of my first career in Corporate America.

After starting a family, I longed for a more flexible career. That is when the idea re-emerged to combine my planning skills with investment planning. I have been happily working with families and small business owners ever since. The idea that I can help others “crack the code” motivates me every day!

P.S. When he retired, my Dad got himself a portfolio of Utility stocks that he watched every day with great satisfaction.

Most recently, I was drawn to join Maven Lane, where the focus on thoughtful, values-driven financial planning aligns with my own philosophy. Joining this team feels like a natural next step in my journey - one that allows me to continue guiding families and small business owners with care, while being surrounded by colleagues who share the same dedication to making a positive impact.
